11/27/2005 06:52:00 PM|W|P|Bob Hall|W|P|Sunday November 27th brought together a confluence of weather elements that had potential to produce severe weather in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. November is not normally chaseable in this part of the country. When Steve Miller called this morning, I was not really planning on going out, but the SPC had a moderate risk and spoke favorably of tornadic potential. I load the Jeep up with the gear that was not stolen. We were in a pretty low level of activation. No Internet, no external antennas, we did not boot a PC until Bartlesville, OK. I had not used WXWorx Mobile Threat Net in several months so I had to call the help line and have them send an activation. About 15 minutes and we have satellite data flowing and can see stuff firing in Kansas. We Blast North to Sedan an follow these for a while. We later decide to head South to Independence, KS. Our storm picks up a Tornado Warning as we approach Independence. It always fells good to be in a warned county and the adrenaline kicks in. Oh crap was that a cop. Yep he got us. The police radios either have so much bleed over or the are using Ham frequencies in Kansas. We hear him running my plate on simplex 146.55. He finally approaches the vehicle and appears really startled when he sees the gear in the car. In a matter of fact way he asks “Do you have a good reason for going 49 in a 30.” Steve simply replies “No.” Honest; no BS, no Skywarn, no TV channel 8, no tornado story. The cop retreats and comes back in about 5 minutes an says he is just going to warn us. We are happy not to have a ticket, but our storms are now long gone at about 60 mph. We briefly try to make up time, but decide a southern path and some new cells worth pursuing. As I have stated before, there is nothing quite as nice a chasing home. We got a wall cloud and some torrential rain. On the way home we are getting blown all over the road. NWS Tulsa is reporting 60 to 70 mph gusts. You can see the Inola radar was showing these incredible non storm related winds. It was great to get out with some friends and do a little core punching in November.|W|P|113313932857191607|W|P||W|P|ChaseHelp@gmail.com11/12/2005 11:55:00 AM|W|P|Bob Hall|W|P|Storm Depression Syndrome hits chasers differently. I started getting excited this morning about a 2% chance. There should be some storms, but it looks like they will bee too far East in the Jungle of Oklahoma and Arkansas. My chase partner Steve Miller is obviously going really stir crazy. Last time I checked he was on his 7th forecast update. It is a Saturday, and prospect of chasing does seem infinitely more fun than raking leaves. We shall see.|W|P|113181817785622965|W|P||W|P|ChaseHelp@gmail.com11/13/2005 05:33:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Steve Miller|W|P|Decided to hitch a ride at the last minute for a chase. Didn't have faith in a catch but weanted to get out and shoot some stock footage for some TV stations... That's is exactly what I did as there was no svr anywhere in sight.
